PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jay Tyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryoga Hibiki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hibiki has chosen Blue Orchid as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Ryoga Hibiki is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jay Tyson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryoga Hibiki!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Matheus Silva and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hibiki throws a nice looking combination but Tyson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A big right from Tyson misses.
Hibiki takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Tyson lands a two punch combo.

Hibiki has Tyson up against the cage in a clinch.

Hibiki breaks the clinch.
Tyson misses with a low kick.
Hibiki throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Tyson's waist but Tyson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hibiki off to one side.

Hibiki is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Tyson's half guard.

Hibiki decides to return to a standing position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tyson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hibiki was well out of range. Poor timing from Tyson.
Tyson avoids a punch combination nicely.

Hibiki shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Hibiki stands up from guard. Let's bang!
A big left from Tyson misses.

Hibiki is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Tyson's half guard.

Hibiki decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Tyson gets tackled into the cage by Hibiki. Hibiki maintains the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tyson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Hibiki lands a nice elbow.
Hibiki has Tyson pressed against the cage, preventing Tyson from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Tyson is trying to break the clinch but Hibiki is controlling him.

Hibiki's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Tyson jabbing away but nothing is landing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hibiki thuds a left hand into Tyson's body.

Hibiki closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Tyson to the mat! Tyson manages to get full guard.
Tyson wants to stand but Hibiki is controlling the position.

Hibiki stands and steps away. Tyson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Hibiki is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Hibiki scores with a takedown into Tyson's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hibiki is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hibiki gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Hibiki closes the distance and pushes Tyson back into the cage.

Hibiki breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Tyson misses with a kick to the body.
Tyson finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Tyson takes a kick to the side of the head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tyson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Tyson leaves Hibiki with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryoga Hibiki dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Hibiki ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hibiki is defended easily by Tyson.
Hibiki misses with a straight right.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tyson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hibiki looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hibiki slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Tyson wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Hibiki has an Americana. Tyson didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Hibiki is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Hibiki hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Ryoga Hibiki!
