PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jim Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nashim Pedrino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miller comes to the cage accompanied by Drunk. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nashim Pedrino!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pedrino is looking to clinch but Miller is avoiding it.
Miller closes the distance but Pedrino moves to the side

and Pedrino counters with a takedown into side control.
Miller is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Pedrino off and has taken his back!
Miller controlling well, preventing Pedrino from escaping the position.

Miller is looking for the choke from the back position but Pedrino is controlling his hands well.
Pedrino rolls, trying to escape but Miller keeps control of the position.
Pedrino just trying to survive but Miller is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Miller is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Pedrino is defending well though. Miller let's go of the attempt for now.
Pedrino manages to reverse the position and now he's in Miller's guard. Nice work there by Pedrino.
Miller has a closed guard, preventing Pedrino from standing up.

Pedrino decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Miller, up you get!

and Pedrino moves into the clinch.

Pedrino gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Pedrino wants to free his trapped foot but Miller is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Pedrino in particular looking to stall.

Miller is breathing heavily.
Pedrino takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Miller is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pedrino is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Miller is just riding it out for now. Pedrino eventually gives up the hold.

Pedrino looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Pedrino lands a big shot there that rocks Miller but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Miller really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Pedrino looking to control but Miller is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Miller might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Miller can't escape the position.

Pedrino is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Miller can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nashim Pedrino dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Pedrino tries for a takedown but Miller sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

and Pedrino counters with a right hand to the body.
A combination from Pedrino does no damage.
Pedrino wants to clinch up but Miller keeps it at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Pedrino decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Miller's guard.

Miller has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pedrino can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Miller escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pedrino gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Miller is on top in guard.
Pedrino seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Miller drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Miller jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Miller stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pedrino swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Miller stands and throws Pedrino's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Miller swings around for an armbar but Pedrino sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Miller's guard.
Pedrino is looking to stand up but Miller won't let him.
Nashim Pedrino has got the better of the ground game so far.
Pedrino working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Miller's head.

Miller has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pedrino can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Miller had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Pedrino is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Miller Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Pedrino's back instead.

Miller is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Pedrino has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Miller is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Miller seems to be working for a kimura but Pedrino defends the submission attempt.

Miller drops back looking for a leg! Pedrino is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pedrino manages to kick Miller off! Miller jumps back into Pedrino's guard.

Miller is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nashim Pedrino showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Miller tries to roll over but Pedrino keeps him under control.

Pedrino stands up over Miller, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Miller unloads a knee to the mid-section. Pedrino lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Pedrino gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Pedrino decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Miller, up you get!
Pedrino throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Miller's waist but Miller gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pedrino off to one side.
Pedrino throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jim Miller has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Nashim Pedrino seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pedrino shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Miller is looking for a triangle here but Pedrino uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Miller drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Pedrino manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Miller has Pedrino in his guard.

Miller is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Pedrino must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Miller is wriggling around trying to escape.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Nashim Pedrino comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Pedrino winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
