Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mikkel Larsen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Anderson Silva!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Tarja Halkonen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Larsen wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Silva fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Larsen, pushing him back against the cage.
Silva is trying to pull guard but Larsen turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Silva has had enough of the clinch but Larsen keeps him there for the moment.
Silva is trying to pull guard but Larsen has him pressed against the cage.
Larsen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Silva swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Silva avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Silva takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Larsen misses with a body kick.
Larsen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Larsen cracks Silva with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Larsen moves into the clinch successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva is trying to pull guard but Larsen turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Mikkel Larsen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anderson Silva.
Silva jumps guard but Larsen turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Larsen trying to stall but Silva improves his position.
Silva jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Larsen walks away with a smile on his face. Silva gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Good shot there by Larsen.
Silva looks gassed!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Silva is defended easily by Larsen.
Mikkel Larsen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Larsen goes for a small jab and connects. Now Larsen goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Silva stumbles back but Larsen runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Silva to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Silva will ever be the same after a knockout like that.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Mikkel Larsen!
Mikkel Larsen decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
