PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jim Beam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Payton Humphrey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Humphrey moves away from the strike by Beam.
Jim Beam seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Humphrey misses with a low kick.
Humphrey will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Beam changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Humphrey looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Beam stands up.
Humphrey fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Beam on the side of the head.
Beam throws a nice looking combination but Humphrey bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Beam feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Humphrey tries to clinch up.

and Beam counters with a big head kick but Humphrey shrugs it off.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Humphrey slips a jab and a cross from Beam.
Humphrey shoots in and drives through. Beam sprawls well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Beam is stalling here. Humphrey is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Beam seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Humphrey has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Humphrey has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Beam is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Humphrey yanks on the arm and Beam is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Humphrey.
