Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ivon MacNaughton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marc Brodeur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ivon MacNaughton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marc Brodeur!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brodeur avoids a punch combination nicely.
Brodeur takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Brodeur dives in and scores a takedown into MacNaughton's guard.
MacNaughton utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Brodeur postures up.
MacNaughton avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

MacNaughton kicks Brodeur off and gets to his feet.
Brodeur misses with a wild combination.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Brodeur.
MacNaughton fails with a takedown attempt.
Brodeur shoots in but MacNaughton avoids the takedown attempt easily.
MacNaughton throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

MacNaughton shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Brodeur manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brodeur manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. MacNaughton manages to get himself to full guard.

Brodeur gets to his feet. MacNaughton looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
MacNaughton misses with a jab, cross combination.

and Brodeur connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Brodeur closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. MacNaughton quickly recovers to half guard.
MacNaughton tries to roll over but Brodeur keeps him under control.
Brodeur is keen to just control but MacNaughton is a slippery customer.
MacNaughton is trying to stand.
MacNaughton is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Brodeur thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed MacNaughton's head.

MacNaughton avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Brodeur.
MacNaughton is not content to let Brodeur control the position.

Brodeur is sneakily working for an arm triangle but MacNaughton sees it coming and defends easily.
Brodeur content to control rather than advance.
Brodeur prevents MacNaughton from improving his position.

MacNaughton is trying to stand back up but Brodeur is controlling him
Brodeur really doesn't want to stay on the ground with MacNaughton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
MacNaughton is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Brodeur stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Brodeur shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

MacNaughton manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Brodeur scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
MacNaughton lands a nice hook to Brodeur's body. Brodeur takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Brodeur slips a jab and a cross from MacNaughton.
MacNaughton shoots in and drives through. Brodeur sprawls well.
Brodeur throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around MacNaughton's waist but MacNaughton gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Brodeur off to one side.
MacNaughton shoots in for a takedown but Brodeur shows good takedown defense.

MacNaughton is breathing heavily.
MacNaughton looks for a takedown but Brodeur sprawls well.

Brodeur has closed the distance and engaged MacNaughton in a clinch.

MacNaughton tries to pull guard but Brodeur won't allow it.
Brodeur lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of MacNaughton backwards.

Brodeur has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed MacNaughton clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Brodeur punches the canvas rather than the man.

MacNaughton defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Brodeur's arms.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
MacNaughton tries to break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


MacNaughton connects with the punch.
Brodeur falls off balance throwing a combination
and MacNaughton counters with a series of strikes. Brodeur will be more careful next time no doubt.

Brodeur throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. MacNaughton tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Brodeur is in MacNaughton's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
MacNaughton wants to stand and escape but Brodeur is having none of it.

Brodeur throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. MacNaughton was covering up waiting for the punch and Brodeur finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Brodeur decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on MacNaughton, up you get!

Brodeur tries to clinch but MacNaughton is having none of it.
MacNaughton swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

and Brodeur counters with a left to the body.
MacNaughton cracks a nice hook into Brodeur's ribs.
MacNaughton shoots in but no luck this time.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Nice defenses there by Brodeur.
Brodeur shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts MacNaughton as he jumps to the side.

Brodeur takes the fight into the clinch.
MacNaughton is trying to break the clinch but Brodeur is controlling him.

Brodeur breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

MacNaughton takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Brodeur feints and as MacNaughton raises his hands in defense, Brodeur changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

MacNaughton is trying to control the position but Brodeur postures up.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

I would just about give that final round to Marc Brodeur.
Well Brodeur has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
