The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Da Gama is defended easily by Simpson.
Simpson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Da Gama.

Simpson cracks Da Gama with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Simpson works Da Gama's body with a nice hook.
Da Gama misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Da Gama shoots in for a double leg but Simpson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Simpson lands a nice hook to Da Gama's body. Da Gama takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Simpson, as that shot connected.
Da Gama shoots in looking for a takedown but Simpson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Da Gama's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yayutee Da Gama. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Da Gama forces Simpson back against the cage and clinches.

Da Gama manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Da Gama throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Da Gama throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Simpson's waist but Simpson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Da Gama off to one side.

Simpson lands a left and a right that send Da Gama crashing to the mat, dazed. Simpson thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Da Gama is rocked!
Simpson fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Da Gama to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Da Gama looks to clinch but Simpson throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Da Gama taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
