The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bartolome looks to throw the jab but Padilla is out of range.
Bartolome looks to land a combination but Padilla avoids it well.
Padilla shoots for a double leg takedown but Bartolome sprawls well. He's pushed Padilla's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Bartolome throws a right and a left that Padilla avoids nicely.

Padilla scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Padilla creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Bartolome sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Padilla has control of Bartolome's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Bartolome regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Padilla lands a big shot there that rocks Bartolome but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
