Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Trevor McCumby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Big Nog!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Seu Braga and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCumby lands the left hand.
McCumby misses the jab.
McCumby connects with a good right hand that stumbles Nog. Nog circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Nog throws a right and a left that both miss.

Nog closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming McCumby to the mat! McCumby manages to get full guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Nog wants to pass the guard but McCumby is keeping the position.

Nog has gone for a leg lock! McCumby slips out almost immediately though and dives into Nog's guard.
McCumby sitting in guard here, content to control.

Nog looking for a guillotine here but McCumby defends easily.

Nog looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

McCumby stays in close to Nog's body and controls the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nog can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as McCumby controls the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Trevor McCumby wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

McCumby rushes Nog and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McCumby seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Trevor McCumby just wasn't active enough.
McCumby takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Nog wants to clinch but McCumby slips to the side
and McCumby counters with a three punch combo that has Nog backing up. Nog nods at McCumby to acknowledge the strikes.
McCumby circles away from the clinch attempt.
Trevor McCumby seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Nog gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows McCumby to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Nog striking off his back but it's not causing McCumby any problems.
McCumby controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Nog has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McCumby can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Nog looking for subs off his back but McCumby has passed one foot through into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
McCumby wants to stand up but Nog has a hold of him and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nog is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Nog is trying to maintain the position but McCumby is very close to passing his half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Big Nog will probably get the nod.
That's time! McCumby's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

McCumby's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

McCumby avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Big Nog has got the better of the ground game so far.

Nog working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McCumby doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McCumby manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Nog looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Nog is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
McCumby works a leg free and moves into half guard.
McCumby seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
McCumby has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The fight stays on the outside here - Nog looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

McCumby thuds his right hand into Nog's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
McCumby misses with a jab, cross combination.

McCumby drives through and clinches with Nog against the cage.
Nog fails to pull guard.
Nog has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. McCumby is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

McCumby manages to break the clinch.
Big Nog is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

McCumby clinches up with Nog and pushes him back against the cage.
McCumby is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Trevor McCumby has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Big Nog.
Nog with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Nog jumps guard but McCumby stands there with Nog around his waist. Nog gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Nog drops down looking for an ankle pick but McCumby pulls his leg out and moves away.

Nog jumps guard but McCumby turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nog is looking for a takedown up against the cage. McCumby gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

McCumby pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

McCumby gets a clinch.
Nog struggles to land a body shot inside as McCumby controls his hands.
Nog tries to pull guard but McCumby forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Nog tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
McCumby stops a takedown attempt from Nog.

Nog turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Nog manages to end up in side control.

Nog goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, McCumby rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Nog's guard! Nice work there by McCumby!

McCumby stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Nog takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Nog takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Nog takes one on the chin but seems OK.

McCumby gets a takedown into half guard.

McCumby is figuring out what he wants to do next.

McCumby's corner calls for a 1-2. McCumby obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
McCumby lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

McCumby gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Nog is trying to pull guard but McCumby has him pressed against the cage.
Trevor McCumby has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Big Nog.

McCumby manages to break the clinch.

McCumby bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
McCumby lands with a cross.
Nog drops his hands momentarily and McCumby takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

McCumby drives through and clinches with Nog against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nog tries for a takedown. No joy.
Nog misses with a hook to the ribs.
Nog has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by McCumby after a bit of a struggle.

McCumby pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Nog takes one on the button.

McCumby closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

McCumby breaks the clinch.
McCumby scores with a nice right hand.
McCumby connects with the punch.
McCumby paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
McCumby fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Nog on the side of the head.
A punch combination from Nog misses.
Nog takes one to the side of the head.
McCumby connects with a looping right hand.
Nog takes one to the side of the head.
McCumby cracks Nog with a good jab.
McCumby is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

McCumby moves into the clinch.
Nog fails to pull guard.
Nog has McCumby pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. McCumby manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Nog doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Nog tries a body shot but McCumby blocks it.
Nog jumps guard but McCumby turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
McCumby gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Nog.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nog tries to pull guard but McCumby holds him up against the cage and eventually Nog drops back down to his feet.

Well McCumby has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
