Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ray Teevie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Ruffa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Teevie comes to the cage accompanied by Stupid Kid. Rick Ruffa has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Sam Margolis and Colin Fotheringham.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruffa takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Teevie!
Nice takedown defense from Teevie. No joy for Ruffa on that attempt.
Ruffa tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Teevie swivels and escapes.
Ruffa drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Teevie misses with a jab, cross combination.

Ruffa closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Teevie did well to prevent Ruffa getting side control.

Teevie remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Teevie works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Ruffa tries to escape but Teevie is in control.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ruffa can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ruffa takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Teevie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Teevie looks up at the clock and then as Ruffa takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Teevie smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Ruffa bucks up and tries to throw Teevie off but instead Teevie has got his back!
Can Ruffa hold on?! Teevie is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.

It looks like Rick Ruffa has been cut.

Teevie is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Ruffa. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.

That has opened up Rick Ruffa's cut even more.
Teevie is punishing Ruffa with some ground and pound.

Teevie cracks Ruffa with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Ruffa from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

Teevie is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Teevie gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Teevie gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Teevie apologises and we restart here on the feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Teevie shoots in and bounces Ruffa off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
