And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Valkonie scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Valkonie wants to control but Shaw is keeping him busy.

Valkonie thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Valkonie swings around for an armbar but Shaw sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Valkonie's guard.
Shaw is looking to stand up but Valkonie won't let him.

Valkonie working for submissions but it's allowed Shaw to get to half guard.

Valkonie is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Shaw pulls his head out easily.
Shaw content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Valkonie is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Shaw tries to push Valkonie's head away but Valkonie is holding on tight.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That was a close round but I would say that Dzindzer Valkonie will probably get the nod.

Shaw tries a head kick but it misses.
Shaw swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

so Valkonie counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Shaw managing to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Dzindzer Valkonie just wasn't active enough.
Shaw shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Valkonie pinned against the cage. Valkonie gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Shaw misses with a low kick.
Shaw is breathing heavily.

Valkonie fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Valkonie swats away the attempt to clinch by Shaw.
Dzindzer Valkonie is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Shaw closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Valkonie has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Shaw. Oh but Valkonie has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Shaw goes limp - he's gone! Valkonie jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
