PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wayne Powell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jan Dolores (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Wayne Powell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jan Dolores!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Atkins and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Powell throws a leg kick but Dolores checks it.
Powell could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Dolores tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Dolores lands a nice shot that snaps Powell's head back.
Powell fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Dolores moves out of range of the body kick.
Dolores throws a head kick that misses.

Dolores bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Dolores is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Dolores wants to stand but Powell has his arm trapped.
Powell tries to bench press Dolores off him but Dolores keeps the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Powell is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Powell tries to get to full guard but Dolores has control of the leg.
Dolores is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Powell tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Dolores has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Dolores controlling from the full mount.
Powell tries to hold on but Dolores postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Powell really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Powell is working hard here to advance position.

Dolores is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Powell can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Powell can't escape the position.
Dolores throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dolores avoids the attempt from Powell to control.
Powell prevents Dolores from taking his back.
Dolores controlling the position easily from mount.
Poor strikes thrown by Dolores there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Dolores throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Powell is in all sorts of trouble here.
Powell slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Powell avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Dolores.

Dolores is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Dolores is thwarting Powell's attempts to control the position.
Powell tries to roll over but Dolores keeps him under control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Powell trying to control but Dolores postures up.
The fighters are battling for position here. Powell manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jan Dolores will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Dolores shoots in and bounces Powell off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Powell trying to keep a closed guard but Dolores is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Powell looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Dolores stays in close to Powell's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Powell manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Powell trying to control but Dolores is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Powell misses with a head shot.
Dolores is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Powell goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Dolores is on top in guard.
Dolores must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Dolores is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Powell has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Dolores is looking to defend but Powell has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Dolores! Powell pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Dolores taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Wayne Powell!
