PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lorenzo Snow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takeru Kyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kyle has chosen I Like to Move It as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lorenzo Snow!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Takeru Kyle!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Dean Styles and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kyle fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Snow has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Kyle looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Snow is fending him off so far but Kyle persists. Nope, Snow circles away and we're back to standing.
Kyle slips under a jab from Snow.
Kyle misses the shot to the body.
Snow cracks Kyle with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Kyle lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Snow at a distance.
Snow's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Snow duly obliges.
Snow dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Snow looks to score with a jab to the body but Kyle is just out of range.
Snow misses the shot to the body.
Snow throws an off balance right hand

and Kyle counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Kyle cracks Snow with a solid left hand.
Snow preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kyle with a nice head shot there.
Kyle postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Kyle trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Kyle loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Snow keeping full guard, as Kyle tries to pass.

Snow trying to keep a closed guard but Kyle is proving a slippery customer.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kyle accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kyle pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Snow is keeping the position for now.
Kyle works over Snow with some ground and pound from guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kyle postures up in Snow's guard and throws a big left but Snow blocks it.
Kyle throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Kyle is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kyle has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Snow is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Kyle throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Snow works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kyle pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Snow is keeping the position for now.
Kyle missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Kyle connects with a couple of short punches.
Kyle is looking to work some ground and pound but Snow has wrist control.
Kyle tries to free his leg and advance position but Snow is retaining full guard.
Snow avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Snow bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kyle's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Kyle is looking to sinch up a triangle. Snow throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Kyle's body to avoid the submission. Kyle has instead reached around Snow's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Kyle arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Takeru Kyle!
Takeru Kyle is the new middleweight champion!
After the fight, Takeru Kyle was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
