PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kauko Partio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Torsten Ostergaard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Partio comes to the cage accompanied by Popeda - Mä elän vieläkin. Ostergaard has chosen Bad Street, Atlanta, GA as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ostergaard cracks Partio with an open hand slap.
Partio throws a right and a left that both miss.
Partio misses with a wild combination.
Ostergaard avoids the body shot from Partio.
Partio misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ostergaard.
Ostergaard misses with a two punch combination.
Partio really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...

Partio shoots for a takedown but Ostergaard saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Ostergaard fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Partio has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Partio shoots for a double leg takedown but Ostergaard sprawls well. He's pushed Partio's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Ostergaard looks for the body kick but Partio saw that one coming.
Partio drops his hands momentarily and Ostergaard takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Ostergaard lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Partio. Ostergaard does a little dance to reset his feet.

Partio shoots in and gets a takedown into Ostergaard's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Partio moves out of range of the body kick.
Partio misses with an attempted mid kick.
Partio moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Partio shoots in for a double leg but Ostergaard sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kauko Partio. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Partio uses his free foot to push down on Ostergaard's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ostergaard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Partio can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ostergaard is looking to escape.

Partio stalks Ostergaard and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Ostergaard's face. Ostergaard staggers backwards, shaken.

Ostergaard paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Partio throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
