Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jurgen Lythjohan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesse Marcel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lythjohan comes to the cage accompanied by The Worm by Audioslave. Marcel is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: city of angels. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jurgen Lythjohan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lythjohan closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lythjohan lands in his opponent's guard.

Marcel has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lythjohan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Marcel is on top in guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Marcel is working for a kimura but Lythjohan is defending it quite comfortably.
Lythjohan has a hand on Marcel's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Marcel takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Marcel is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lythjohan can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

The fight stays on the outside here - Lythjohan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marcel pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Lythjohan doesn't manage to clinch there - Marcel circles away.

Marcel jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Marcel stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lythjohan.
Marcel throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Lythjohan's head.

Lythjohan forces Marcel back against the cage and clinches.

Lythjohan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Lythjohan shoots in for a takedown but Marcel shows good takedown defense.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Marcel crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Lythjohan - the referee stops the clock and Marcel gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Lythjohan. Marcel manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Marcel tries to reverse the position but Lythjohan maintains control.

Lythjohan goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Marcel is on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Marcel wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lythjohan keeps working.

Marcel is looking for a kimura here.
Lythjohan is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Marcel's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Marcel's back!
Lythjohan is looking to finish with some ground and pound!

Lythjohan is trying to stick to Marcel's back but Marcel is turning into Lythjohan. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Lythjohan's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Marcel.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Marcel slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Marcel wants to control from the top but Lythjohan keeps moving.
