The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Durant dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Ionescu. That did some damage!
Ionescu tries for a takedown but Durant sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Durant throws a combination. Ionescu tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Durant really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ionescu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ionescu is nestled in close to Durant, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Ionescu seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
