The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romero tries a head kick but it misses.
The fighters circle momentarily. Scott darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

It looks like Marcello Romero has been cut.
Scott drops Romero with a left and a right! Oh, Romero is hurt - Scott dives into side control looking to finish!

Scott is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Romero will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Scott wants to lay and pray for a moment but Romero keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Scott tries for a kimura but Romero is defending well.
Romero seems to have got his legs back now.
Scott cracks Romero with a big right hand but Romero just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Scott thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Scott wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Romero, who protects the arm well.

Scott has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Romero's face.

Scott stalks Romero and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Romero's face. Romero staggers backwards, shaken.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
