Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sky Saxon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitch Layden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sky Saxon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Sky Saxon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 1, fighting out of London, Mitch Layden!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Saxon feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Saxon working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Saxon is in close to Layden's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Saxon trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Layden keeping moving, preventing Saxon from controlling successfully.
Saxon forces his way into half guard.
Saxon takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Saxon looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Layden with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Saxon throws a big right hand that misses.
Saxon trying to control the position from guard on top but Layden is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Saxon throws an elbow that misses. Layden uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Saxon's guard. Nice move by Layden!

Saxon is looking to sweep but instead, Layden has passed into half guard.
Saxon regains full guard. Nicely done.

Layden wants to control from the top but Saxon keeps moving.
Saxon utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Layden working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Saxon is on top in guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Layden has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Saxon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Saxon postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Saxon stands and throws Layden's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Saxon throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Saxon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Saxon lands a nice forearm strike.
Saxon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Layden keeps working.

Saxon is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Layden knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Layden prevents Saxon from moving into mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Saxon landing strikes.

Saxon tries for a kimura but Layden is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sky Saxon dominated that round.
That's time! Saxon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Saxon misses with a takedown attempt - Layden sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Saxon tries to clinch there but Layden circles away.

Saxon shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Saxon was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sky Saxon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Layden is wriggling around trying to escape.

Saxon with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Saxon looking for a guillotine from mount but Layden is having none of it.
Saxon putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!


It looks like Mitch Layden has been cut.
Saxon looking to control but Layden is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Saxon scoring with strikes but Layden is staying in there.

Layden is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Saxon lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Saxon cracks Layden with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Layden tries to lock up and control but Saxon gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Saxon wants to control the pace but Layden is squirming around nicely.
Saxon connects with a bit shot that sees Layden covering up! More strikes from Saxon and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Saxon is our winner by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sky Saxon!
