PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Simon Adebisi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bret Sane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sane is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Domination. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Simon Adebisi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bret Sane!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Adebisi gets a takedown into half guard.
Sane is trying to stand up here but Adebisi is controlling him well.
Adebisi moves nicely into side control.
Sane is trying to control Adebisi's posture but Adebisi avoids it.
Sane is trying to get back to half guard.
Adebisi works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Sane tries to bench press Adebisi off him but Adebisi keeps the position.
Adebisi lands a nice forearm strike.

Sane misses with an elbow from the bottom.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Adebisi is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sane knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Adebisi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Sane really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Adebisi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Adebisi decides to stand up, so the ref orders Sane to his feet.
Adebisi shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sane but Sane pushes him off and we're back to square one.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Sane keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Adebisi gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sane to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Sane wants to control from the top but Adebisi keeps moving.

Sane tries to free his leg and advance position but Adebisi is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Adebisi wants to sweep but no luck.

Adebisi is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Adebisi manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Sane keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Adebisi lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Adebisi can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sane is looking to escape.
Sane wants to control but Adebisi is having none of it.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sane takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Adebisi is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Sane to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Sane shrugs it off.
Sane is trying to reverse the position but instead Adebisi has taken his back - oops!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Adebisi rushes Sane and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Adebisi misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Sane shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Adebisi napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Sane tries to stand but Adebisi is controlling his head.
Sane is looking to take a break and control but Adebisi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Sane is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Sane misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Adebisi manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Sane is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Sane is trying to control. Adebisi wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Adebisi here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Sane passes the guard and advances to mount!

Sane is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Adebisi can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Sane decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Simon Adebisi will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Sane misses with a wild body shot.
Adebisi lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Sane backs up against the cage.
Adebisi shoots for a takedown but Sane saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Simon Adebisi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Adebisi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Sane changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Adebisi looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Simon Adebisi. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Sane feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Adebisi looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sane wants to control the pace but Adebisi is squirming around nicely.
Bret Sane has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Simon Adebisi.
Well Adebisi has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
