Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sly Fox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seppo Taalasmaa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sly Fox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Seppo Taalasmaa!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Hirohito Nitta and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fox has a takedown stuffed.
Fox shoots and misses

and Taalasmaa counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Taalasmaa looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Seppo Taalasmaa wasn't active enough on the ground.
Taalasmaa closes the distance and clinches up with Fox, looking for a takedown. Taalasmaa pushes Fox against the cage but Fox circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Seppo Taalasmaa hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Fox shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Sly Fox seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fox wants to stand and escape but Taalasmaa is having none of it.
Taalasmaa must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Fox lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Taalasmaa is trying hard to land a takedown here. Fox sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Taalasmaa lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Taalasmaa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fox's waist but Fox gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Taalasmaa off to one side.
Sly Fox has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Seppo Taalasmaa.

Fox tries to pull guard but Taalasmaa holds him up against the cage and eventually Fox drops back down to his feet.

Taalasmaa has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Fox regains guard immediately.

Fox is looking for a triangle but Taalasmaa pushes his legs off easily.
Taalasmaa has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Fox is proving hard to escape from.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Seppo Taalasmaa was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Fox tries to score a power double leg takedown but Taalasmaa sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fox somewhat.

Taalasmaa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fox. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Seppo Taalasmaa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well Taalasmaa has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
