PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Tolbert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodge Cws (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cws is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Run devil Run. Rodge Cws is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Thomas Tolbert!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rodge Cws!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Ren Mimura and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cws looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Tolbert misses with a double jab.

Tolbert gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cws to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Cws is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Cws thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Tolbert looking to control.
Tolbert knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cws on the ground.
Tolbert trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Cws has gone for a leg lock! Tolbert slips out almost immediately though and dives into Cws's guard.

Cws escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tolbert gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tolbert wants to control from the top but Cws keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Cws is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Tolbert is aware though and is defending well.
Tolbert pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cws is keeping the position for now.

Cws is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Tolbert wanted to stand there but Cws had control of the position.
Tolbert controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Cws has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tolbert can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Tolbert throws a big right hand that misses.

Cws keeping moving, preventing Tolbert from controlling successfully.

Cws looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Tolbert stands up and waves to Cws to follow him.
Cws shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Tolbert but Tolbert pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Cws looks gassed!
Tolbert tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Cws is able to avoid easily.
Cws looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Thomas Tolbert has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rodge Cws.

Cws shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Tolbert is controlling Cws's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Tolbert is looking to escape.

Cws is looking for a kimura here.
Tolbert works his way to full guard. Good work.

Cws drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Tolbert dives on top into guard.

Tolbert tries to free his leg and advance position but Cws is retaining full guard.

Cws manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Tolbert manages to get himself to full guard.
Tolbert might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Cws thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Tolbert had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cws defends it easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rodge Cws dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Cws shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Tolbert counters with a big head kick but Cws shrugs it off.
Tolbert connects with a high kick.
Cws shoots in looking for a takedown. Tolbert tries to sprawl out of it but Cws keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tolbert manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Nice takedown defense from Tolbert. No joy for Cws on that attempt.

Tolbert gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Tolbert is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Cws pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Tolbert manages to pull guard.

Cws drops back looking for a leg! Tolbert is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tolbert manages to kick Cws off! Cws jumps back into Tolbert's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cws postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Tolbert is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Cws, into his guard.

Cws pushes a forearm under Tolbert's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Tolbert is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Rodge Cws!
Rodge Cws bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
