Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Clark Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Clark Kent has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 21 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Clark Kent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 13 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rob Mendez!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.


It looks like Rob Mendez has been cut.
Kent throws a series of punches but Mendez moves out of range.
Mendez shoots in for a takedown but Kent shows good takedown defense.
Nice takedown defense from Kent. No joy for Mendez on that attempt.
Kent throws a series of strikes that have Mendez backpedaling.

Mendez gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Mendez can't get the takedown.
Clark Kent has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rob Mendez.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mendez is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kent pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Mendez tightens his grip and picks Kent up, before dumping him to the ground. Kent manages to land in guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Kent being controlled here, momentarily.
It looks like Mendez might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Let's hope that Mendez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Rob Mendez.

Mendez rushes Kent and presses him up against the cage.

Mendez has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kent uses from the top position.
Mendez manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Kent avoids a series of strikes thrown by Mendez.

Kent defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Mendez.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mendez with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Mendez looking to ground and pound but Kent is blocking nicely.

Mendez lands a heavy elbow.
Kent is breathing heavily.

Kent defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Mendez.
Mendez controlling from the full mount.

Mendez is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mendez closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kent gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Mendez.
Kent is pressed up against the cage. Mendez has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kent down to the mat. Kent avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Kent looks to land a left hand but Mendez moved out of range nicely.

Mendez closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Kent's guard.
Mendez engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rob Mendez dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Rob Mendez's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!



Mendez has closed the distance and engaged Kent in a clinch.

Mendez works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Mendez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mendez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Mendez passes into half guard.

Mendez in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Kent tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Mendez!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Rob Mendez!
