The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banner throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Banner comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Banner with a nice cross.
Rodriguez wants to clinch
and Banner counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Rodriguez uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Banner.
Banner scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Rodriguez doesn't seem bothered though.
Banner sizes up Rodriguez with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rodriguez blocks a head kick by Banner.
Banner lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rodriguez backs up against the cage.
Rodriguez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Banner swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Banner lands a nice looking body shot.
Rodriguez blocks a low kick nicely.
Banner attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Banner swings for the body but Rodriguez moves out of range.

and Banner counters with a right hand to the body.

Banner connects with a body shot that sends Rodriguez's belly button to the back.
Rodriguez wants to clinch
and Banner counters with a stiff right hand.
Nice body punch from Banner.
Banner scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Rodriguez gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Banner must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Banner looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Banner wants to stand but Rodriguez is controlling his posture from full guard.

Rodriguez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Banner controls the pace.
