The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Demidov blocks a low kick nicely.
Demidov throws a hook to the side of Varnson's head but Varnson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Demidov tries to bum rush Varnson with a series of wild strikes but Varnson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Demidov scores with a sloppy right hand. Varnson should have avoided that one.
Varnson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Demidov circles away from the clinch attempt
and Demidov counters with a leg kick.
Demidov slips under a jab.
Varnson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Demidov stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Varnson fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Demidov has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Varnson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Demidov moves away.

Kel Varnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Demidov steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Varnson. That one must have hurt.
Varnson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Varnson throws the left hand but Demidov avoids the punch easily.
Demidov throws a jab but it's blocked by Varnson.

Varnson tries to clinch up but Demidov circles away and keeps his distance.
A nice leg kick lands there from Varnson.
Demidov looks to land a right hand but Varnson moved out of range.

Varnson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Demidov tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Varnson was well out of range. Poor timing from Demidov.
Demidov takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Varnson connects with a body shot that sends Demidov's belly button to the back.

Varnson closes the distance and clinches.

Varnson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Demidov has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Varnson.

Varnson pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Varnson drops Demidov with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Demidov looks back up at him and smiles so Varnson waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Varnson lands with a shot to the body.
Kel Varnson is winning the standup battle so far.
Varnson steps in with a hook that catches Demidov right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Varnson follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Demidov looks absolutely devastated.
