Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Vera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Stangard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Daniel Vera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Greg Stangard!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vera tries a head kick but it misses.
Stangard misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Stangard misses with a body kick.
Stangard connects with a leg kick. Vera looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Stangard blocks a head kick by Vera.
Vera doesn't manage to clinch there - Stangard circles away.
Vera shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Stangard manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Stangard looking to hit a scissor sweep but Vera is one step ahead there.
Stangard is looking for a triangle but Vera pushes his legs off easily.
Vera trying to control but Stangard is working from the bottom.
Vera is working Stangard over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Vera missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Vera scoring with punches to the head and body.
Stangard not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Stangard working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vera doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vera manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Vera working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Vera trying to stand up but can't free himself from Stangard's guard.
Stangard has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Vera has passed into side control.
Stangard is letting Vera control him for a moment.
Stangard tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Check out the look on Vera's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Stangard wants to control but Vera postures up.
Vera cracks Stangard with a big elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Vera lands an elbow.
Vera creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Stangard is rocked!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Vera lands some shots froms side control.
Stangard is still in real trouble! Can Vera finish him?
The referee asks Vera politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Vera prefers to stall for the moment though.
Stangard is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Vera works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Vera crunches a massive hammerfist down on Stangard - he's out! Vera Holds back on further strikes and jumps to his feet to celebrate with the crowd!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Daniel Vera!
