The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Jacobs as Calzaghe shoots in.
Calzaghe bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Jacobs jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Jacobs stuns Calzaghe with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Calzaghe walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Calzaghe shoots in for a takedown but Jacobs shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Calzaghe. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jacobs gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Calzaghe to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Calzaghe throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jacobs works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Jacobs manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Calzaghe manages to get himself to full guard.
