PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sammy Hopler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frej Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hopler comes to the cage accompanied by Bodies (Let the Bodies Hit the Floor) . Frej Hughes told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sammy Hopler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frej Hughes!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hughes is defended easily by Hopler.
Hopler looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Hopler stuffs the takedown attempt from Hughes. Hughes gets slowly back to his feet.

Hughes scores with a takedown into Hopler's guard.

Hopler has momentary wrist control but Hughes slips an elbow through the middle.

Hughes drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hughes jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hughes looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hopler with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Hughes shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hopler as he avoids it easily.
Hopler shoots in for a double leg but Hughes sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Hughes decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hopler, up you get!

Frej Hughes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Frej Hughes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hughes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
