Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ru Oh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Brecht (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ru Oh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Patrick Brecht!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Seu Braga and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Oh shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Oh showed some decent athleticism there.
Brecht controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Brecht is trying to get back to full guard.
Brecht trying to control from the bottom.
Brecht is refusing to be controlled, as Oh sits in half guard.
Brecht manages to get to full guard.
Brecht trying to control the position.
Oh preventing the sweep.
Oh wants to control from the top but Brecht keeps moving.

Brecht working for a triangle but Oh defends it easily.

Oh scoring with some ground and pound.
Oh with a flurry of punches that miss.
Brecht is trying to keep Oh in close.
Oh trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Brecht manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Oh manages to get himself to full guard.

Brecht drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Brecht jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Oh looking for a sweep. Not yet Oh, not yet.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Brecht stands and throws Oh's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Oh is looking for a sweep.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Brecht moves into the clinch successfully.
Brecht goes for a takedown attempt but Oh pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Oh swats away the attempt to clinch by Brecht.
Brecht looks gassed!

Oh has managed to clinch.

Brecht has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Oh regains guard immediately.
Brecht is pushing down on Oh's leg trying to pass to half guard. Oh is fighting to maintain full guard but Brecht has managed to sneak the leg through.
Oh gets full guard.
Oh throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

Brecht stopping the sweep attempt from Oh.

Brecht gets to his feet. Oh looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Oh shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Oh knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Brecht on the ground.
Oh thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Oh landing shots from mount.
Brecht is trying to escape the mount.
Oh lands a nice shot to the head.
BOOM! Oh connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Brecht is working to get back to half guard.
Oh scoring with strikes but Brecht is staying in there.
Oh looking to ground and pound but Brecht is blocking nicely.
Oh unloading with bombs!

Brecht manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Oh throwing shots but Brecht is blocking nicely.
Brecht trying to control but Oh postures up.
Oh wants to free his trapped foot but Brecht is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Oh is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Oh is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Oh is looking for a kimura here.
Oh is trying to control the action in half guard but Brecht is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Brecht misses with a takedown attempt

and Oh counters by clinching up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Patrick Brecht will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Oh lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Oh's corner calls for a 1-2. Oh obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Oh closes the distance but Brecht moves to the side

and Brecht counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Oh is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Oh is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Brecht trying to mount his opponent but Oh defends it.
Oh wants to control but Brecht is keeping busy.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Oh can't keep his opponent in guard - Brecht advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Brecht uses his free foot to push down on Oh's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Oh.

Brecht is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Oh has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Oh!

Brecht working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Oh doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Oh is pushing down on Brecht's leg trying to pass to half guard. Brecht is fighting to maintain full guard but Oh has managed to sneak the leg through.

Brecht changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Oh fights it off and pushes away nicely.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Brecht looking for a guillotine here but Oh defends easily.
Brecht throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Brecht is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Patrick Brecht showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Oh's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Oh closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Brecht keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Brecht is trying to maintain the position but Oh is very close to passing his half guard.
Brecht makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Brecht.
Brecht wants to sweep but no luck.
Brecht is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Oh with a nice head shot there.

Oh with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Brecht is positioning himself well to prevent Oh advancing to mount.

Brecht tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Brecht controls Oh momentarily but Oh frees himself.

Ru Oh has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Brecht bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Oh's guard.

I've got Brecht winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
