PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Douglas Lima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Matos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lima comes to the cage accompanied by It's a fight. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lucas Matos!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Seu Braga and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matos takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Lima throws a low kick but it's checked well by Matos.

Lima does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Matos looks for a takedown but Lima sprawls well.

Lima fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Matos checks it well.

Matos tries to pull guard but Lima forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Lima stands and steps away. Matos gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Matos.

Matos shoots in looking for a takedown. Lima tries to sprawl out of it but Matos keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lima manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Matos has a takedown stuffed.
Lima just misses with a punch to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lima is trying to stand up here but Matos is controlling him well.

Matos is looking for a kimura but Lima is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Matos to get the leverage.
Matos is pressing down on Lima's thigh, looking to free his foot. Lima is holding on for now.

Matos in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Lima tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Matos!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Lucas Matos!
Lucas Matos decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
