The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Jackson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jackson moves in looking to clinch but Monroe pushes him off.
Monroe swats away the attempt to clinch by Jackson.
Jackson shoots in but Monroe avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Jackson is looking for a triangle but Monroe pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Monroe seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Monroe connects with a nice short shot to Jackson's temple.
