PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Theopolis Barrymore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barrymore kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Thing That Should Not Be. Scott has chosen Alestorm - Shipwrecked as his entrance music. Jason Scott is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Theopolis Barrymore!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Scott!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, John Mangel and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barrymore shoots in looking for a takedown. Scott tries to sprawl out of it but Barrymore keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Scott manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Scott lands a big head kick that sends Barrymore tumbling to the mat! Scott takes a step backwards and waves Barrymore back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Theopolis Barrymore has been cut.
Scott misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Barrymore with a poor takedown

and Scott counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Scott can't break the clinch.
Barrymore is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Scott is defending well for now.
Barrymore stalling in the clinch but Scott improves position.

Scott pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Barrymore fails in his attempt to clinch.
Barrymore shoots in looking for a takedown but Scott manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Barrymore's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Theopolis Barrymore. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Barrymore dodges the punch combination from Scott.
Scott moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Scott throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Barrymore's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Scott dives in looking to finish as Barrymore flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Scott's strikes! Scott is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Barrymore's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Barrymore was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jason Scott!
