The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rutten throws a left and a right that both miss
and Hopkins counters with a left and a right that stings Rutten.

Hopkins shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rutten sprawls well. Rutten wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hopkins gets slowly back to his feet.
Mooney Rutten seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rutten throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Hopkins avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Hopkins moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
