The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas lands a nice shot that snaps Silva's head back.
Silva bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Thomas tries to bench press Silva off him but Silva keeps the position.
Silva fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Thomas tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Silva tries for a kimura but Thomas is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Thomas is looking to regain half guard here but Silva keeps moving and retains side control.
Silva is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Silva is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Thomas is trying to escape and Silva transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Thomas is forced to tap! Nice work there by Silva! Very nice indeed!
