The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Juliard stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Juliard wants it to stay on the feet.
Juliard looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Maia!

Juliard is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Maia can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Juliard drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Juliard jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Maia escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Juliard gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Maia working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Juliard doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Maia is tightening it up a little... Juliard has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Juliard reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Juliard taps out! Nice BJJ there by Maia!
