PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lewis McLay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Noah Ho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Lewis McLay has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Lewis McLay seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lewis McLay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Noah Ho!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, John Mangel and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Ho does no damage.
Nice defenses there by McLay.
Ho looks to land a combination but McLay avoids it well.
Ho fails to land the takedown.

McLay shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
McLay is trying to control the action in half guard but Ho is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
McLay scoring with strikes to the body and head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ho is trying to maintain the position but McLay is very close to passing his half guard.
McLay throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Ho is staying active underneath McLay, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Ho tries to get to full guard but McLay has control of the leg.
McLay really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

McLay is looking for a kimura but Ho is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for McLay to get the leverage.
Ho gets full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McLay throwing strikes but missing.
McLay stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ho swivels though and keeps the full guard.
McLay is looking to work some ground and pound but Ho has wrist control.
McLay wants to control from the top but Ho keeps moving.
McLay tries to free his leg and advance position but Ho is retaining full guard.

Ho is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McLay defends well.
McLay trying to control but Ho is working from the bottom.
McLay throws an elbow that misses. Ho uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in McLay's guard. Nice move by Ho!

McLay is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ho defends well.

McLay is looking for a triangle here but Ho uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
McLay is looking to regain half guard here but Ho keeps moving and retains side control.
McLay regains half guard there - taking advantage of Ho's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
McLay has hold of Ho's hands but Ho slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Ho lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Ho thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McLay's head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ho takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

McLay is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ho pulls his head out easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ho slips a nice elbow through McLay's hands, connecting with McLay's forehead.
McLay wants to control but Ho is keeping busy and won't allow it.
McLay wants to get back to full guard.
Ho has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

McLay actively working from the bottom here.
Ho not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Ho working McLay over with strikes.
Ho missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
McLay is looking to improve his position.
Ho misses with a head shot. McLay uses the momentum to regain guard.
Ho makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Ho keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of McLay's head.

McLay working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ho doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ho manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Ho lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

McLay is looking for a triangle but Ho pushes his legs off easily.

McLay is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
McLay is breathing heavily.
Ho sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed McLay's guard.
Ho thows a huge punch but McLay dodges it nicely.
Ho prevents McLay from improving his position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McLay wants to control but Ho is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
The fighters are battling for position here. McLay manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Ho throwing strikes but missing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Noah Ho will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


McLay gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Nice takedown defense from Ho. No joy for McLay on that attempt.
Ho throws a right hand that McLay ducks under and follows up with a left that McLay also avoids with ease.

Ho drops McLay with a big left hand and mounts him. McLay is in big trouble!


McLay is rocked!
Noah Ho has got the better of the ground game so far.
Oooooh, big shot lands for Ho! McLay is hurt baaadly! Ho is firing away with more strikes - McLay is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Noah Ho!
