Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between shane geerdes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Rodrigo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, shane geerdes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Seu Braga and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodrigo keeps geerdes at a distance using the push kick.
Rodrigo clinches up against the cage.
geerdes gets underhooks to prevent Rodrigo's takedown attempt.

Rodrigo manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

geerdes tries to bum rush Rodrigo with a series of wild strikes but Rodrigo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Rodrigo fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but geerdes is out of range.

Rodrigo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in geerdes's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
geerdes had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Rodrigo is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. geerdes Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Rodrigo's back instead.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

geerdes drops back looking for a leg! Rodrigo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rodrigo manages to kick geerdes off! geerdes jumps back into Rodrigo's guard.

Horrible takedown by geerdes or perhaps it was just good defense by Rodrigo which made him look bad.
