PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Alco Holic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Gerrard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Joseph Jones and Anthony Taglia.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gerrard jabs at Holic's body.
Gerrard throws a right and a left that Holic avoids nicely.
Gerrard fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Holic throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Nice sprawl there from Gerrard as Holic shoots in.
Gerrard will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gerrard looks to land a combination but Holic avoids it well.
Gerrard looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Holic shoots for a takedown but Gerrard saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Gerrard throws a right hand that Holic ducks under and follows up with a left that Holic also avoids with ease.
Gerrard lands a body shot.
Good shot there by Gerrard.
Gerrard throws a series of punches but Holic avoids them all with ease.
Gerrard punishes Holic's body with a nice straight punch.

Holic feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Gerrard throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Gerrard wants to stand and escape but Holic is having none of it.
Holic looking to pass the guard.
Holic is breathing heavily.
Gerrard is pulling down on Holic's head. It's preventing any offense from Holic, at least for the moment.
Gerrard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Holic. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Holic passes into half guard.
Gerrard is looking to improve his position.
Gerrard throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Gerrard tries to get to full guard but Holic has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Holic stops Gerrard from getting back to his feet.

Holic is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gerrard defends it well.

Holic is working for a submission of some sort.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Gerrard makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gerrard.

Holic trying to control the position from guard on top but Gerrard is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Holic slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Holic wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gerrard, who protects the arm well.
Gerrard is not content to let Holic control the position.

Gerrard manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Holic is pressing down on Gerrard's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Holic bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gerrard's guard.

Holic pushes down on Gerrard's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Holic works his way into full mount!
Holic scoring with strikes but Gerrard is staying in there.
Holic is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Gerrard can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Holic has hold of Gerrard's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Gerrard manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Holic goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Gerrard turns into him and now he's in Holic's guard.
Gerrard is in close to Holic's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Holic is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Holic trying to keep a closed guard but Gerrard is proving a slippery customer.

Gerrard is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Holic has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Gerrard is looking to defend but Holic has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Gerrard! Holic pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Gerrard taps out and this one is all over!
