Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, DJ Nelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Billy Harrison!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson throws a right and a left that both miss.

Nelson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Nelson wants to control the pace but Harrison is squirming around nicely.
Harrison is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Nelson controlling the pace for now.
Harrison tries to hold on but Nelson postures up.

Harrison wants to control but Nelson is having none of it.
Harrison holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Nelson tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Nelson wants to control the pace but Harrison is squirming around nicely.

Harrison is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nelson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Nelson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Nelson wants to control the pace but Harrison is squirming around nicely.

and Nelson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Harrison's guard.

Harrison has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nelson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Nelson gets to his feet. Harrison looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

and Nelson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Harrison!

Nelson moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Harrison has worked his arm free - good work by Harrison!
Nelson wants to control but Harrison is keeping him busy.

Nelson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Harrison to his feet.

and Nelson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
DJ Nelson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Billy Harrison.

Nelson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Nelson wants to pass the guard but Harrison is defending well.

DJ Nelson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Harrison is in trouble now - Nelson has advanced to mount!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Nelson is looking to take a break and control but Harrison is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Harrison is not content to let Nelson control the position.

Nelson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nelson showed some decent athleticism there.
Nelson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Harrison does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Nelson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Harrison knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Nelson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Harrison can do to turn this around?

Nelson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Harrison keeps working.

The referee stands the fighters back up. DJ Nelson just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Nelson decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
DJ Nelson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nelson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Harrison swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Harrison moves into the clinch successfully.

Nelson manages to break the clinch.

Nelson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Nelson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Harrison swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Harrison is trying to hold Nelson in close to prevent damage but Nelson has managed to pass into half guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Nelson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
