Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cobra Pardy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dragan Novak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cobra Pardy!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dragan Novak!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Novak closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Novak lands in his opponent's guard.
Novak seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Novak advances to half guard.
Pardy flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Novak is working for a kimura but Pardy is defending it quite comfortably.

Novak is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Novak trying to control from half guard but Pardy is working away.
Pardy tries to get to full guard but Novak has control of the leg.

Novak is working for a submission of some sort.
Novak is keen to just control but Pardy is a slippery customer.
Pardy is looking for a sweep. Novak is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Novak looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Pardy wants to control the action here but instead Novak manages to pass to full mount!
Pardy is wriggling around trying to escape.
Novak trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Pardy wants to hold on but Novak pushes him away.
Pardy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Novak on the ground.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Novak moves to the back.
Pardy breaks Novak's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Pardy stopping the sweep attempt from Novak.
Novak looks gassed!
Pardy with a flurry of punches that miss.
Pardy loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Novak looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Pardy has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Pardyis looking to pass into half guard but Novak pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Novak is in guard.
Pardy doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Pardy controlling Novak's posture.
Pardy tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Pardy keeping moving, preventing Novak from controlling successfully.
Novak stopping the sweep attempt from Pardy.
Pardy trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Pardy punishes Novak's body with a nice straight punch.
Novak shoots for a double leg takedown but Pardy sprawls well. He's pushed Novak's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Cobra Pardy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Novak ducks under a wild hook from Pardy.
Novak misses with a body shot.
Pardy misses with the combination.
Pardy misses with a double jab.
Novak has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Pardy misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Pardy keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Novak wants to clinch up but Pardy keeps it at a distance.
A combination from Pardy does no damage.
Pardy misses with a wild combination.
Nice takedown defense from Pardy. No joy for Novak on that attempt.
Cobra Pardy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dragan Novak.
Pardy sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Novak to the ground! Pardy dives into full mount looking to finish!


Novak is rocked!


It looks like Dragan Novak has been cut.
Pardy postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Novak in real trouble here! The ref calls for Novak to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cobra Pardy!
