The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akiyama closes this distance looking for a takedown but Few circles away.

Few gets control of Akiyama's arms and successfully pulls guard. Few will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Few is looking for a triangle here but Akiyama uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Akiyama wants to lay and pray for a moment but Few keeps working.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close round but I would say that Yoshihiro Akiyama will probably get the nod.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
