The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruez throws a series of punches but Carmichael avoids them all with ease.
Ruez misses with a takedown attempt - Carmichael sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Carmichael scores with a nice body kick.

Ruez lands with a kick to the temple. Carmichael shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Ruez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Carmichael.
Ruez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Carmichael manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Carmichael fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ruez.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Carmichael throws a leg kick which misses Ruez's front leg but catches the back leg as Ruez tries to avoid it.
Carmichael digs a good body shot into Ruez's ribs.

and Carmichael counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Ruez shoots in looking for a takedown but Carmichael manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ruez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Carmichael tests Ruez's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Ruez is rocked!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Ruez walks right into a perfectly timed right hook and goes down hard! He's out cold! The ref cradles Ruez limp body while Carmichael jumps on to the cage and waves to the roaring crowd. Wow that was just a brutal knockout!
