The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sarney clinches.
Martin drops down looking for an ankle pick but Sarney pulls his leg out and moves away.
Sarney connects with a single shot there.


It looks like James Martin has been cut.
Sarney misses with the combination.

Sarney clinches up with Martin and pushes him back against the cage.
Sarney stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Martin.

Sarney struggles to land a body shot inside as Martin controls his hands.
Martin pushes off an throws an elbow but Sarney leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Sarney crunches a lovely knee into Martin's ribcage.

Martin tries to circle away but Sarney has him pinned against the cage.

Martin has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Sarney uses from the top position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Martin stands up over Sarney, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Martin pushes down on Sarney's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Sarney is staying active underneath Martin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Martin jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Sarney manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Martin has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Sarney is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Martin yanks on the arm and Sarney is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Martin.
