PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Song Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Douglas Quaid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Quaid's choice of entrance music: Metallica - For Whom the Bell Tolls. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Douglas Quaid enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Song Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Douglas Quaid!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Lee shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Quaid defends it nicely.
Lee throws a low kick but Quaid moves out of range easily.
Lee looks to land a right hand but Quaid moved out of range.
Lee is looking to score with low kicks.
Quaid fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Lee throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Lee throws a nice outside leg kick.
Lee tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Lee misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Quaid throws a jab when Lee was well out of range.

Quaid closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Quaid looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Quaid tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Lee is looking for a sweep.
You can see the frustration on Lee's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Quaid wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lee keeps working.
Lee tries to improve position but can't.

Lee parries the strikes from Quaid easily there. Quaid is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Lee to escape.
Lee takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Quaid wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lee keeps working.
Quaid is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Lee is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Lee tries to get to full guard but Quaid has control of the leg.
Quaid working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Lee makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Lee.

Lee escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Quaid gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Lee is trying to maintain the position but Quaid is very close to passing his half guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Well, if Quaid is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Lee thows a body kick. Quaid tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Quaid misses with a double jab.
Quaid lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lee circles away quickly and effectively.
Quaid tries to bum rush Lee with a series of wild strikes but Lee uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Quaid moves out of range of the body kick.
Quaid tries for a takedown but Lee sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

and Quaid cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Lee misses with a kick to the body.

Lee dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Quaid. That did some damage!
Lee throws a big shot that misses.
Lee tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Lee throws a head kick that misses.
Horrible takedown by Quaid or perhaps it was just good defense by Lee which made him look bad.

Good leg kick by Lee there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Quaid stuffs the takedown attempt from Lee. Lee gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Song Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lee leaves Quaid with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Lee fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Quaid has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Lee looks to score with a jab to the body but Quaid is just out of range.
Quaid tries for a takedown but Lee sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Lee lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Quaid has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Quaid and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Lee drops his hands momentarily and Quaid takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Lee is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Quaid off and has taken his back!

Quaid is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Quaid tries to escape but Lee has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

I would just about give that final round to Douglas Quaid.
