Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yuoki Akamara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodrigo Verson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Akamara comes into the arena with Illuminati blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Yuoki Akamara!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rodrigo Verson!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akamara tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Verson was well out of range. Poor timing from Akamara.
Akamara keeps the fight on the outside.
Rodrigo Verson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Verson clinches with his opponent.
The referee is keeping an eye on Verson - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Verson wants to get back to striking at distance but Akamara won't allow it.

Verson gets control of Akamara's arms and successfully pulls guard. Verson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Akamara advances to half guard.
Akamara works his way into side control.
Verson is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Verson is looking to reverse the position.
Verson is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Akamara is controlling him well.

Akamara is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Verson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Verson sneaks out the side door and pushes Akamara away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
The fight stays on the outside here - Verson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Akamara counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Akamara.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Verson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Akamara defends well.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Akamara accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Verson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Verson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Akamara gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Akamara has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Akamara is trying to control. Verson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Akamara passes to full mount!

Akamara is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Verson to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Verson shrugs it off.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Verson bucks Akamara off and manages to get back to his feet!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Akamara enables Verson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Akamara manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Verson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Akamara advances to half guard.
Akamara looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Verson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Akamara looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Akamara stalling away here and it's allowed Verson to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Verson wants to stand up but Akamara is controlling him.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Yuoki Akamara will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Verson wants to clinch up but Akamara keeps it at a distance.

Verson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Akamara manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Verson wants to get back to full guard but Akamara has mounted him!
Verson is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Akamara wants to control the pace but Verson is squirming around nicely.
Akamara lands a big elbow.
You get the feeling that Verson really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Verson is squirming around, avoiding Akamara's attempts to control the action.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Verson is desperately trying to improve his position but Akamara has a good base and remains in mount.
Akamara fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
BOOM! Akamara connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Verson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Akamara looking to control but Verson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Verson tries to reverse the position but Akamara maintains control.
Yuoki Akamara overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Akamara is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Verson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Akamara has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Verson's face.

Akamara lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Akamara trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Verson tries to improve his position but Akamara has taken his back! Akamara has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Verson tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Akamara pushes Verson away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Yuoki Akamara!
