Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Greg Stairs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ty Webb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Webb has chosen I'm Alright as his entrance music. Ty Webb has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Greg Stairs's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Greg Stairs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ty Webb!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Webb closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Webb jumps into guard, dragging Stairs to the mat.

Stairs is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Webb tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Stairs sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Webb's guard.

Webb actively working from the bottom here.

Stairs seems to be working for a kimura but Webb defends the submission attempt.
Webb flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Stairs wants to pass to mount but Webb is defending the position.

Stairs stands up out of the half guard.

Webb closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Webb working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Webb is looking to take a break and control but Stairs is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Webb stands up and beckons Stairs to his feet.

and Webb counters with a nice double leg into side control. Stairs won't be happy with that.
Stairs is breathing heavily.

Webb wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Stairs, who protects the arm well.
You can see the frustration on Stairs's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

so Stairs counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Webb really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stairs. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Stairs thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Stairs slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Stairs wants to control but Webb is keeping him busy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Webb counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Webb.

Stairs is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Stairs stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Webb to get to his feet.

and Webb counters by clinching up.

Webb breaks from the clinch.
Webb throws a head kick but Stairs moves out of range.

Stairs shoots in and bounces Webb off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Stairs wants to control from the top but Webb keeps moving.
Stairs stands and throws Webb's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Stairs thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ty Webb will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

and Stairs counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Webb's guard now.

Stairs is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Webb is just riding it out for now. Stairs eventually gives up the hold.
Stairs seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Webb loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Stairs is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Webb trying to control the position from guard on top but Stairs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Webb distracts Stairs with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Webb stands and steps away. Stairs gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close second round but I would say that Greg Stairs will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Webb gets caught flat footed, as Stairs shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Webb wants to sweep but no luck.

Webb had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Stairs is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Webb Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Stairs's back instead.
Webb is not going to allow Stairs to sit and survive in this position.
Stairs turns into Webb and is now in his guard.
Stairs wants to get up but he can't break Webb's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Webb has taken the fight to the clinch.
Webb controlling the action here for a moment.
Stairs tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Webb smiles and moves away.
Stairs shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Webb as he avoids it easily.

Webb darts in and clinches Stairs up against the cage.

Webb breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Webb moves into range and clinches up with Stairs.

Webb is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Webb controls Stairs momentarily but Stairs frees himself.

Stairs closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Webb to the mat! Webb manages to get full guard.

Webb really wants to buck Stairs off and get back to his feet.

Stairs gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Webb bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Stairs's head.

Webb closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Stairs is trying to control Webb's posture but Webb avoids it.
Stairs is looking for a sweep.
Webb is looking to take a break and control but Stairs is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Stairs is looking to regain half guard here but Webb keeps moving and retains side control.
Stairs is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Webb off and has taken his back!

Webb manages to stand up with Stairs still on his back. Eventually Stairs drops to his feet and we're back in the standing position.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Greg Stairs.
I think Stairs has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
