PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Karao Tuleo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Askren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Daniel Blasius.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tuleo shoots in looking for a takedown. Askren tries to sprawl out of it but Tuleo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Askren manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Tuleo throws a series of punches but Askren avoids them all with ease.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Tuleo.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Askren pushes Tuleo away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Tuleo gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Askren bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Tuleo stuffs the takedown.
Askren shoots in looking for a takedown but Tuleo manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Askren's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Askren shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Tuleo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Askren stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tuleo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Tuleo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Tuleo tries to get out of the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Tuleo keeping moving, preventing Askren from controlling successfully.

Askren missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Tuleo wants to sweep but no luck.
Askren seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Askren stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tuleo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Tuleo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Askren defends well.
Tuleo is breathing heavily.
Askren controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Askren slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Askren is pushing down on Tuleo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Tuleo is fighting to maintain full guard but Askren has managed to sneak the leg through.

Askren is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Askren is controlling the pace.
Tuleo is in trouble now - Askren has advanced to mount!
Tuleo holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Askren tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Tuleo wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Askren.
Askren throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Askren really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tuleo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Askren lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Askren is landing with some decent strikes but Tuleo is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Askren looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Tuleo covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
