Mama misses with a takedown attempt

and McGill counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by McGill.
Mama is looking to stand up but McGill isn't so interested in that idea.
McGill seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Mama wants to stand and escape but McGill is having none of it.
McGill controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jacob McGill just wasn't active enough.

McGill feints and as Mama raises his hands in defense, McGill changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McGill controls from within his opponent's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
McGill sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mama's guard.
McGill content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
McGill is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Mama!
McGill is landing with some decent strikes but Mama is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

McGill working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Mama looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by McGill! Submission of the night perhaps?
