PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Quan Raiden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Masakatsu Ueda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Raiden kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Boss Battle. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Raiden, as that shot connected.
Raiden closes the distance looking to clinch
and Ueda counters with a body kick.
Raiden checks the leg kick.
Raiden tries to clinch but Ueda is having none of it.
Quan Raiden seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Raiden misses with a hook. Ueda ducked under it nicely.
Ueda swings for the body but Raiden moves out of range.
Ueda takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Ueda wants the takedown. Raiden is fighting it off but Ueda persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Raiden's guard against the cage.

Raiden can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ueda controls the pace.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Masakatsu Ueda hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Raiden moves out of range as Ueda throws a body kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Raiden connects with a body shot that sends Ueda's belly button to the back.
Raiden attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Raiden uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ueda.
Ueda shoots in for a takedown but Raiden shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

That was a close round but I would say that Quan Raiden will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Raiden tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Ueda manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Raiden fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ueda.
Raiden tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ueda was well out of range. Poor timing from Raiden.
Raiden lands a leg kick that knocks Ueda off balance momentarily.
Ueda on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Ueda uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Raiden.

Ueda swats away the attempt to clinch by Raiden.
Good leg kick by Raiden there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Ueda.

Raiden will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ueda breaks from Raiden's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Raiden is looking to improve his position but Ueda isn't that keen on the idea.
Quan Raiden is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Ueda moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Raiden has worked his arm free - good work by Raiden!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Quan Raiden.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Raiden, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
