PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kobe Sato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Eberhart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eberhart has chosen South Side as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kobe Sato!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andrew Eberhart!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Eberhart looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Sato is defending against the submission attempts here by Eberhart.
Sato tries to get to full guard but Eberhart has control of the leg.
Eberhart wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sato keeps working.

Eberhart is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Sato slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Sato doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Sato looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Sato had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Eberhart defends it easily.
Sato will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Eberhart postures up.
Sato wants to sweep here but Eberhart controlling him for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Eberhart stands up over Sato, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Andrew Eberhart hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Eberhart takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Sato cracks Eberhart with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Eberhart scores with a takedown into Sato's guard.
Eberhart thows a big elbow that misses.
Eberhart slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Sato has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Eberhart should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Sato has tightened it up now! Eberhart should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Kobe Sato!
