PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ashe Corven (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rey Destroyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Corven comes into the arena with Escape blaring out of the sound system. Rey Destroyer acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Destroyer misses.
Destroyer tries to clinch up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Corven.
Destroyer throws a right hand that Corven ducks under and follows up with a left that Corven also avoids with ease.
Destroyer keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Destroyer misses with a straight left.
Corven walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Destroyer keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Corven has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Corven there as he acknowledges the shot.

Destroyer throws a right and a left that Corven avoids nicely.
Destroyer lands a jab to the head.
Nice uppercut lands for Destroyer. That snapped Corven's head back.
Destroyer lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Corven circles away quickly and effectively.
Corven slips a jab and a cross from Destroyer.

Destroyer has closed the distance and engaged Corven in a clinch.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Destroyer has had enough of the clinch but Corven keeps him there for the moment.
Corven keeps control of Destroyer as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
A frustrated look appears on Destroyer's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Destroyer wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Corven has him pressed against the ropes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Destroyer is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
Destroyer is trying to stall.

Destroyer breaks from the clinch.

Destroyer moves into the clinch.
Corven is working for a takedown up against the ropes. He can't get it on this occasion though.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ashe Corven. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Corven successfully pulls guard.

Corven is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Destroyer defends well.
Destroyer looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Corven has his foot on Destroyer's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Destroyer works his way back into a safe position though.
Corven preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Corven is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Destroyer defends well.

Destroyer drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Corven manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Destroyer has Corven in his guard.

Destroyer looking for a sweep. Not yet Destroyer, not yet.
Destroyer is pulling down on Corven's head to control his posture.
Corven tries to free his leg and advance position but Destroyer is retaining full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Destroyer looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Destroyer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Corven. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Destroyer trying to keep a closed guard but Corven is proving a slippery customer.

Rey Destroyer dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Destroyer gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Destroyer not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Destroyer tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Destroyer is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Corven postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Destroyer is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Corven, into his guard.
Destroyer wants to pass the guard but Corven is keeping the position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Destroyer is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Corven has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Destroyer is looking to defend but Corven has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Destroyer! Corven pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Destroyer taps out and this one is all over!
