The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mccarthey tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Jennum manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mccarthey scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

It looks like Steve Jennum has been cut.
Mccarthey plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Jennum closes the distance and clinches up with Mccarthey, looking for a takedown. Jennum pushes Mccarthey against the cage but Mccarthey circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mccarthey tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Jennum looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Jennum cracks Mccarthey with a big right hand but Mccarthey just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Mccarthey is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Jennum is controlling him well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jennum lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Jennum connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Mccarthey some visible discomfort.
Jennum creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Jennum is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Mccarthey looks calm but he's in trouble here. Jennum gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Mccarthey is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Jennum lets go of the hold and Mccarthey can pop his arm back in it's socket.
